Nelson got his BSc and Master Degree in Electronic Engineering from University of Algarve, Portugal. He is working toward a PhD degree at the DRIVE-In Project of QOPHI laboratory, University of Vigo. His áreas of interest are mainly in the telecommunication and electronic fields, in topics such as integrated photonics, quantum communications and nanoelectronics.

In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music, traveling or doing trail running.
